Are GERD and Acid Reflux the Same?

Unless you're a doctor, the answer is yes. Acid reflux is actually one of the causes of gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD, but since GERD specifically refers to the affected body part it's the term doctors prefer. There may be other things that cause GERD, such as bile reflux according to the Mayo Clinic , but for most people the terms GERD and acid reflux are synonymous.

  1. I discovered a GERD site which helped me keep me sane while waiting out the months of my twin boys colic. I think it might also be a useful tool for your readers.
